Do You Sew? Can You Paint A Wall? Are You Crafty?
FABRIC HEAD BOARD FOR YOUR BED
It has never been a better time to get into doing some of your own renovations, using easy Home Decor Ideas. Busy people will say that they do not have time for it but i think they need to make time. A busy person needs to take a break from their everyday routine and do something mind blowing, something that can make them feel happy with minimal fuss.
That is why for all of you craft challenged bods out there, i am giving you a head start or tip on how to get your bedroom looking a million dollars without having the Executive income to match. I will start off by asking one simple question. Who has an ensemble bed pushed up against the wall in their bedroom, looking boring, uninviting and out of place?
Yes thought so, many of you can answer yes to this can’t you! Well be gone with that i say and turn your bedroom and bed into the castle in deserves to be. Make it a place you feel all warm and fuzzy when entering or even just glancing at as your walk by.
Firstly here is a list of items you will need -
Timber or Board at least 20mm thick and the same width as your bed, you can decide on how high you would like it but remember if it is too big you may have trouble mounting it on the wall (measure the width of your bed before you buy it and when at the hardware store tell them what you are making and they will suggest the right timber/board for the purpose)
Staple Gun/Staples
Fabric, allow at least 15cm extra so that you can stretch it over and staple it to the back of the timber (THIS IS WHERE I COME IN BECAUSE YOU CAN PURCHASE FABRIC HERE AT KIM T DESIGNS)
Wadding, also allow at least 15cm extra so that you can stretch it over and staple it to the back of the timber(your local haberdashery store like Spotlight will be able to help you with this, once again just tell the what you are making.
OK all you have to do is put the wadding on a flat surface, put the timber on top of the wadding and stretch/pull the wadding securely over the timber and staple in all of the way around so the board is covered with the wadding on one side.
Have your fabric neatly ironed to get rid of any creases and put it on a flat surface and place the timber wadding side down onto the fabric so that the fabric pattern shows on the front of the timber now instead of the wadding. You may need some tacks to stretch the fabric over the timber but if you are confident you can do it without the tacks. Just check that the fabric is nice and snug and not loose and sagging as you start to staple it all the way around the timber.
Wow, you should now have a Bedhead for that boring old bed of yours. I would of course love to make this for you but with the cost of freight/shipping it would just not be worth it for you, i like to make my products affordable, with no hassles on delivery etc.
Now you will be thinking, what else can i make? You will have the bug now, but if you are not into sewing, well that is where i can come in again and can organize you matching cushions and even a Lampshade if you desire.
Well that was not too hard was it!
Have fun putting up your bedhead, this is where i switch off, my Hubby does all of that kind of stuff for me.
Pleae send me a photo if you decide to make one and i will show it off on my website.
FABRIC ROOM DIVIDER
OK, so you need to divide up a room. It might be for the purpose of storage, to hide that unsightly mess that you never get around to cleaning or it might be to give two children that share a room some privacy from each other. What ever your need, a Fabric Room Divider will help you.
I am not going to give you step by step instructions this time, all i am going to do is plant the seed in your mind that it is possible. It basically works along the same line as a curtain for the purpose of dividing the room up. It is a very quick fix to a problem, instead of having a wall built, you can put up fabric. One tip is that you may want to put some weights in the bottom hem to keep it from blowing around too much. Using Fabric would create a feature, like a painted feature wall, you can work with it to accent other areas in the chosen room if it is for a bedroom. You could even use a different fabric on each side if your kids do not like what the other one likes.
The possibilities are endless here, and what an inexpensive way to renovate.
Have fun with this one and if anyone decided to use these ideas i would love for you to email a picture and i will use it on my website.

FABRIC COVERED STORAGE/DISPLAY SHELVES
Another thing that you could do using Fabric is to make some display shelves in coordinating Fabric to compliment your Fabric Wall Decor and Cushions. Home Decor can be all about what you make too. I would envisage a small piece of MDF again, like used in making the headboard. You would only need it to be approx 40cm long x 20cm wide, you would also need some craft glue as well as some brackets to put on the wall to hold your shelves. I know you can buy some really nice brackets these days, in brushed chrome etc.
